Narrawong, Warrnambool, Portland and Port Fairy are Victorian hotspots for migrating whales.  From June through to September Humpbacks, Southern Rights and the occasional Blue Whale and Orcas pass by these waters and are visible from our shores. Narrawong Beach is a common stopping point for whales to de-scale (scrape barnacles off their bellies) and they can be seen breaching (sometimes with calves).  Other reliable whale watching locations are the cliffs above Portland, Dutton Way (Coastal drive between Portland and Narrawong), Logan's Beach in Warrnambool and Cape Nelson Lighthouse. A good starting point if looking for the whale flag at Portland's information centre. This means that whales have been spotted that day.
