School Camps

Narrawong Island Coastal Group Accommodation is now open for business as a school camp venue!

With so much to do on site and partnerships with GoSurf.com and South West Adventures we can offer 2 to 5 day programs for students of all Grade levels. Our camp is fully catered with our team presenting nutritious and delicious meals for breakfast, lunch and tea. Our food van staff are committed to working with you for menu planning and catering for all dietary needs of staff and students.

CATERING

We are very fortunate to have partnered with Portland Fish and Chips who bring their van on site and provide flexible meal options, nutritious and delicious food across many cuisines and great attention to dietary requirements of your students.

See below a sample menu for your 3-day program, please note all days come with morning tea and afternoon tea to keep your students happy, full and hydrated.​​​

DAY 1

Arrive at Narrawong Island 

Lunch - Homemade sausage rolls & party pies served with banana or blueberry muffins, fresh fruit and cordial

Dinner - Classic barbeque meats served with coleslaw, pasta salad, bread & sauce.  Fruit salad and custard or ice cream is served for desset and apple juice is available. 

DAY 2

Breakfast - Choice of cereals (Weetbix, Nutri Grain, Rice Bubbles & Corn Flakes), toast and spreads (jam, honey & vegemite), eggs and bacon served with fruit juice (apple & orange) & a selection of fresh fruit (bananas, apples, grapes & mandarins)

Lunch -

Can be packed if your students are off-site

Rolls of your choice (ham & cheese, chicken lettuce & mayo, vegemite, egg and lettuce) served with fruit slices and juice box

Dinner - A variety of pastas (sauce, cheese & meat options) served with garlic bread. Sticky Date pudding with ice cream icecream for dessert and cordial or water avaliable. 

DAY 3

Departs Narrawong Island 

Breakfast - Choice of cereals (Weetbix, Nutri Grain, Rice Bubbles & Corn Flakes), toast and spreads (jam, honey & vegemite), eggs and bacon served with fruit juice (apple & orange) & a selection of fresh fruit (bananas, apples, grapes & mandarins)

Lunch -

On site or ready to hit the road

A choice of pizza slices or sandwiches served with orange cake, chip packet & juice box

SAMPLE PROGRAM

Our groups manager, Nic, has worked in outdoor education for 23 years and loves to tailor a program that suits your students. With a combination of on-site and off-site activities your camp will be one to remember and easily fulfil your program aims and objectives.

60 students - Grade 5 and 6

DAY 1

Approx 11am to 12.30pm - Arrive at Narrawong Island - Lunch / Settle in 

1.00 pm - Beach Walk

2.30pm - Group Rotation - Orienteering (3 fabulous courses - local animals / indigenous / Local place names) + Team challenge ( 5 quick initiative activities to get your students working together )

5.00pm Showers / unpack / free time 

5.45pm Dinner

6.20pm Cabins / Diaries / Reflection

6.45pm Evening Activity - Night Hike / Beach walk

8.30pm Supper / School Staff time

9.00pm Cabins / Settle for bed

9.30pm Lights Out

DAY 2

9.30 am - Visit to Budj Bim - This UNESCO World Heritage Site offers an insight into our 60,000 years of indigenous culture and the unique way of life once a feature of our traditional owners of this land.

1.00 pm - (after lunch) - 3 Group Rotation - Session 1 - BUSHCOOKING / Environmental Studies walk / Stand Up Paddle Boarding / Mountain Biking 

3.00pm Group Rotation - Session 2  - As above

5.00pm Showers and Quiet Time (Games room / Cabins / Multi-purpose room)

5.45pm Dinner

6.20pm Diaries and Reflection Time

6.45pm Evening Activity - Reflector Trail (Whole Group)

8.00pm Supper and School Staff time

8.45pm Return to Cabins / Settle for bed

9.15pm Lights Out

DAY 3

9.30am - Group Rotation - Session 3 Bushcooking / Environmental Studies walk / Stand-up Paddleboarding / Mountain Biking

11.30am - Whole Group Scavenger Hunt

12.30pm - Lunch (On Site)

1.30pm - Group Rotation Session 4 - As Above

3.30pm - Afternoon Tea

4.00pm - Bus to Portland - Visit to Portland Maritime Museum / Foreshore Walk / Town Walk

​6.00pm - Return to Narrawong Island - Dinner

6.30pm - Diaries / Reflection

6.50pm - Campfire Night

8.00pm - Showers / Quiet Time

8.30pm - School Staff / Supper

9.00pm - Cabins / Settle for Bed

9.20pm - Lights out

DAY 4

Approx 11am to 12.30pm - Arrive at Narrawong Island - Lunch / Settle in

9.00am - Pack up / Clean Cabins / Luggage to Multi-purpose room

9.45 am - Orienteering (2 Groups) / Beach Carnival (2 Groups)

10.45am - Morning Tea

11.00am - Beach Carnival (2 Groups) / Oriengteering (2 Groups)

12.00pm - Lunch

12.30pm - Depart Narrawong for school (or visit on way home e.g. Umpherston Sinkhole, Mt Gambier or Port Fairy  Mulloka Boat Cruise ( We can organise these and more! ).
