ACTIVITIES for schools and clubs
BEACH WALK
You can actually see, hear and smell the beach from your camp cabins. It's less than 100m from the multi-purpose room. Narrawong Beach is a perfect spot for whale watching / sandcastling / hunting for shark teeth / group challenges or just relaxing. Our beach is a pristine section of Australia’s coastline and there's long stretches for hikes that join the GREAT SOUTH WEST WALK.

SURFING
GoSurf.com is our coaching partner. They will collect your group and choose the best venue for the day. There's a stunning experience to be had right at our beach, Nun's Beach in Portland or Cape Bridgewater. We've done all the risk assessments and our surf coach partners are fully insured, accredited and qualified.

ORIENTEERING
Allow an hour with groups up to 24 as they pair up to find markers around the campsite. Students use a map to work out where the markers are hidden and then copy the words or picture onto their answer sheet. There's a local place name course, local animal course and an indigenous course. Really easy for school staff to run with no experience.
ABSEILING
South West Adventures will take your group to their best age-appropriate venue and work with students to provide a thrilling and secure experience. This great outdoor adventure activity will promote resilience and challenge in your cohort.

STAND UP PADDLE BOARDING
Run on the Surrey River, in the Portland Harbour, or at Bridgewater Lakes. Ability to run two groups of 12 at a time with each session running for approximatley 90 minutes.

REFLECTOR TRAIL
This can be done with the whole group or split in two directions. Students use their own torches to spotlight a reflector and copy down the mystery letter. Then shine a light on the next reflector and on you go! This works brilliantly as a self guided activity - our staff will get you started. Don't forget to look up at the stunning night sky.

NIGHT HIKE
Watch the sky come alive and the bush fill with sounds as you head out along the beach or through local parkland. The lights of Portland will dazzle as well as sightings of wallabies, koalas, tawny frogmouths and more.

BUSH COOKING
Our staff can run this activity and introduce your students to a wide variety of simple items perfect for camp meals - golden syrup dumplings, orange souffle, banana boats, damper, sausage with three veg and more. We'll supply the firepits, the wood, cooking utensils and food. You also have the option of running this yourself with everything supplied - just light the fires and pop the damper on a stick. Perfection! (Terms 2 and 3 only)

CAMPFIRE NIGHT
Fancy a night of songs, stories and laughter. Students join in enthusiastically adding to the entertainment. Our schools manager Nic will bring the guitar and the dad jokes. School staff feel free to jump in too or have a night just to be there with the kids and enjoy! We can promise at least three laughs and two marshmallows.

ROCK CLIMBING
South West Adventures will pick you up from camp and take you to an age-level appropriate venue where qualified instructors await with all the equipment and tons of experience. With stunning views and authentic rock-climbing locations this experience will be one to remember.

BIKE RIDES / MOUNTAIN BIKING
Bring your own or our groups manager, Nic, can organise a fleet. There are safe and flat paths around the park grounds and nearby access roads or bring the ‘tuff’ stuff for a visit to Sawpit Mountain Bike park; Mount Clay trails and other nearby venues. Our outside partners will guide you through some first class ‘shredding’ for beginners to advanced.

MOVIE NIGHT
You can reflect on your whole day or watch a show to close out the day. Our multi-purpose room projector and big screen is plug and play ready for your laptops, android or Apple devices. Reliable internet and a Netflix login ensure you'll have something to watch.
CAVING
Run at Bat's Ridge Flora and Fauna Reserve. Two caves are available, allowing two groups of 12 at a time. Sessions run for approximateley 90 minutes.

FISHING
Hand reels, tackle boxes, hooks, floats and bait are all supplied. Grab the tub and head to the bridge where you've got every chance to catch some of the local food species - mullet, bream, snapper as well as perch, gummy shark and mulloway. You can also bring your own surf rods for a lucky dip in the southern ocean.

ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES
Perfectly situated between the elbow bend of the Surry River and the ocean, our park has so much to offer with bird watching, coastal studies, bushwalks and access to the GREAT SOUTH-WEST WALK. Experienced camp staff can help you interpret your discoveries. For an added level please ask about our engaging our indigenous guide who will walk your group through a bush food bonanza.

TEAM CHALLENGES
We have a range of stunning puzzle type challenges that school staff just open the tub lid and away you go. Challenges such as finding the correct path to exit the chess board or keeping a ball moving inside their 20 pipe channels. Loads of fun !
Students love these quick challenges that are non-competitive but get the teamwork started and the grey matter working.... can they line up in surname order but done completely silently? Can they untangle themselves if they've grabbed an end of one of the 8 pieces of rope? Is it even possible? Allow an hour with all equipment and instructions supplied. Our staff can explain this all to you.
TRIVIA EVENING
If you want to go tech-free we have a paper version - 5 rounds of 10 questions each that are updated each term. In between the questions there's mini challenges for bonus points. This can also be run using the big screen in the multi-purpose room. There's pictorial and animated clues to hold your students interest and keep them thinking. Run it yourself or our camp staff can keep the whole evening moving. (Takes 60 to 75 minutes).
SURF CARNIVAL
We're not exactly Bondi Rescue but this 8 X 2 minute activity rotation builds students' confidence with the beach without entering the water. There's activity cards in a tub explaining the tasks plus all equipment. Allow an easy hour for this fun and educative activity.

PLAYGROUNDS and OVAL
There is a primary school age playground within the park grounds plus the eco-playground across the public oval is first class and engaging for students K to 12. In addition your students have access to tennis courts and a basketball ring during your stay.

CANOEING / KAYAKING
Go Surf.com will get you out on the water in a safe and controlled section of the Surry River. All risk assessment / accreditation and qualifications are current and the equipment provided for you. We can also arrange for this activity to be undertaken on other suitable venues such as Portland and the Fitzroy and Glenelg Rivers.
