River Fishing Right on Your Doorstep

Narrawong Island Holiday Park is surrounded on three sides by the Surrey River. On one side of the Park, the Surrey at its mouth flows into the Portland Bay allowing guests a wider range of fishing opportunities.

The Surrey River is abundant with fish, ranging from Bream, Mullet, Salmon and even the odd Eel. Large Bream over 35 cm are often caught all year round. There is a floating pontoon bridge at the mouth of the river which allows easy access to the beach and the other side of the river.

Surf Fishing Only 50 metres away

Fishing in the surf is very popular with species such as Snapper, Salmon, Mulloway, Bream, Elephant Fish and Gummy Shark regularly caught.

Boat on the Bay

If you have a boat, the bay really comes to life, with many large game fish available to be caught depending on the season. Yellow Tailed Kingfish, Mako Shark, Big Snapper and Southern Bluefin Tuna all make great fishing with some Tuna being caught up to 156 kg’s. (2010 Vic record)

Portland Bay boasts a wide range of countless other species such as Whiting, Flathead, Squid and other Shark species.

Local Boat Ramp Only Minutes Away

There is a great boat ramp in Portland just 10 minutes by car or launch your smaller boat into the river at the Park. Narrawong Island Holiday Park has plenty of boat parking, a fish cleaning room and a free freezer to store your catch.

No Boat? No Worries 🙂

If you don’t own a boat give one of the local charter boats a call and they will give you a great day out and put you right onto the fish.
